60°C Thermostat Wire Information

Thermostat Wire

This is regarding the 60°C 30 volt thermostat wire. However, it is best to start knowing what a thermostat is. It is a component in a control system that controls the temperature so that such system is near a preferred temperature. A thermostat can be a control unit for a cooling or heating system or it may be a part of an air conditioner or heater. Thermostats can be constructed in various ways and may employ sensors to read the temperature.

The thermostat controls the air-conditioning and heating systems at home. Moreover, the air conditioner and the heater consume the most energy. The air conditioner and the heater also have the most impact on an individual's or family's quality of life and comfort.

In knowing how a thermostat ticks, one may want to know the components that contribute to the workability of the thermostat. An important component that makes any thermostat work is using low voltage wires. Aside from thermostats, certain wires are used to power devices like alarm systems, doorbells, and telephones. Such low-voltage wires are really thin (about 24-gauge) and may be available in various application-ready designs.

Specifically, a type of wire used in thermostats is the 60°C 30 Volt CSA Type LVT wire. The 60°C 30 Volt thermostat wire is a powerful conductor that is 8 AWG annealed solid bare copper that complies with ASTM B-3. This type of wire is covered in premium-grade color-coded polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Its jacket is brown PVC.

Applications for the 60°C 30 Volt wire include: touch-plate systems, thermostat control, burglar alarms, heating and air conditioning installations, doorbells, intercom systems, remote control units, annunciator and bell systems, signal systems, and other low-voltage installations.

The 60°C 30 Volt wire comes in a maximum of 10 colors, depending on the number of conductors in a single wire. The two-conductor wire comes in white and red; the three-conductor wire comes in white, red, and green; the four-conductor wire comes in blue, aside from the three prior colors; a five-conductor wire comes in yellow, blue, white, red, and green.

A 60°C 30 Volt wire with six conductors comes in white, red, green, yellow, blue, and brown. Orange is a color added to a wire with seven conductors and black is the color added to a wire with eight conductors. A nine-conductor wire has the color purple added to its roster of colors and gray is added to a wire with 10 conductors.

While a 60°C 30 Volt thermostat wire is not enough to power a thermostat, it is nevertheless an important component in an air conditioning or heater system. This kind of wire can withstand temperatures of up to negative 20 degrees Celsius and up to 60 degrees Celsius.

A thermostat is designed for a system with five wires. Two wires come from the transformers on the heating and air conditioning systems. Two wires come from the relays that turn on the heating and cooling systems and the last wire comes from the relay that turns the fan on. While the thermostats of the home ventilation systems are highly essential, an added knowledge of how a thermostat works really helps.
